How To Buy A Premium Domain Name
Buying one of our domains is not as straightforward as some online purchases, but using the following guidance you should not experience any problems. Transactions can often be completed within 24-48 hours, but we allow longer timescales for those that require them to release funds etc. We also provide free support during the domain transfer process, if required.
Make An Offer – Start A Negotiation
On many of our domains we allow buyers to make an offer, no VAT is due. Please consider your initial offer carefully before submitting it. We receive a lot of offers, so be realistic if you want negotiations to progress. Use the comments section of the form to support your offer, if relevant. We may make a counter-offer or accept your offer without negotiation. Premium domains are not priced and are all subject to negotiation. All domains remain for sale to others whilst negotiations are in progress.
Before you submit an offer please be sure to review our terms and conditions. You should also review the Nominet terms and conditions
too.
Once you’ve submitted an offer we will normally be able to respond within 24/48 hours and aim to respond to all offers within 7 days of receipt. If during negotiation we don’t hear from you for a period of 5 working days then we’ll assume negotiations are complete and open negotiations with any other interested parties.
Once a price is agreed we’ll send you an invoice in PDF format and request payment by your chosen method. After payment is received we’ll then request the details you wish to use for your domain registration and initiate the transfer of the domain to yourself, your company, or to a third party. Domain transfer is free of charge.
Payment Methods
Bank Transfer Using BACS
Straightforward, with minimal delays, often instant, requires all payments to be made in Pounds Sterling (GBP). Payments can also be wired to our account from outside of the UK, but currency conversion or other payment fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Once the full amount is in our account then we’ll initiate the transfer of the domain.
PayPal
We'll accept PayPal payment for domain transactions up to the value of £500. In all cases, transaction fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
Escrow Services
The most secure method of payment for both buyer and seller, using an independent intermediary to handle the transaction and changeover of ownership. The process is somewhat more complicated, and takes longer to complete. The buyer is required to create an account at Transpact
and to complete the required actions requested via Transpact emails. Fees incurred via escrow payment are the responsibility of the buyer.
Finalise The Deal
Now that you have full ownership of your domain name we strongly recommend that you check the Nominet WHOIS
record for your domain to ensure that Data Validation has been successful. Contact details used must match those that are publicly available (such as at Companies House, electoral register, etc.) in order to be sure that Nominet are able to verify you or your company.
To have control of your domain you need to request to transfer it into your account at your chosen domain registrar, eg. GoDaddy, 1&1 Internet, 123-Reg etc. Normally this is a free service, and has to be initiated by yourself, or your web developer.
Now the domain is under your control you should set the contact email address associated with it, as this is used for renewal reminder emails. Be wary of using personal addresses belonging to employees as these tend to expire over time. Use an address you know to be permanent or you risk losing your domain name when your next renewal is due. These changes will need to be done via the dashboard of the account at your chosen domain registrar.
